ADAPTER/CHARGER ISSUES
Plug it into the wall (first), then to the left rear corner “adapter port” (it’s magnetic). You may have to jiggle it to make the connection. The light will turn “green” to show the connection, then to “amber” indicating the battery is charging. If you attach the adapter to the computer first, while it’s on, it will cause a spark.
If the light on the adapter cord does not come on:
- Jiggling the connection.
- Making sure nothing got inside the magnetic port (a staple is most common).
- Making sure the prongs are not bent.
- Removing and reattaching the corner prong unit (while unplugged).
- Trying a different outlet.
BATTERY CHARGE/CAPACITY
The average use on all fully charged Apple batteries is approximately 2-4 hours depending on (regardless of the laptop model, user, year, new or used battery or computer, etc.). We install new or gently used batteries. While Apple advertises 7 hours of use on a full charge, that is at the lowest light setting, not connected to the internet, and with no programs running. We recommend keeping the computer plugged in at all times
HOW DO I RESET MY BATTERY?
If you encounter a charging problem, we recommend and always start with a reset, which resets the communication with battery and computer. Here’s how:
- Power off the computer, and plug in and attach the adapter/charger.
- Hold down the: Shift / Control / Option and Power buttons all at once (for 1 second). The light on the adapter will blink, which means it worked. If not, try it again.
- Power on the computer.
Occasionally these batteries do not show they are charging, this happens more often with the Service Batteries. If this happens, please try to reset the SMC before requesting a return or replacement:
To reset the SMC:
Shut down the computer. Plug in the MagSafe or USB-C power adapter to a power source and to your computer. On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time. Release all the keys and the power button at the same time. Press the power button to turn on the computer.
*On MagSafe power adapters, the LED might change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC. We noticed that if the light does not turn off that it didn't work. In this case please try it once more.
